Important Update for Arkansas Dental Providers-
The Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS) is ending its Medicaid Dental Managed Care Program and returning beneficiaries who qualify for dental coverage to the Medicaid Fee-for-Service (FFS) program beginning November 1, 2024. As part of this transition, the process for Prior Authorizations (PAs) will change. Please carefully review the information below so you are prepared.
Beginning September 15, Acentra Health (Acentra) will become the Prior Authorization (PA) administrator for Medicaid. Please note the dates and instructions in the tables below for how and when to begin submitting PA requests to Acentra.
Any PAs approved by Acentra for dental managed care beneficiaries on or after October 19, 2024, will need to have a Date of Service (DOS) on or after November 1, 2024. Emergency services do not require a PA. For any emergency services required before November 1, please contact the dental managed care organization in which the beneficiary is enrolled.
Acentra will be holding trainings the week of September 9, 2024. These trainings will cover:
- Registration of Acentra’s Provider Portal, called Atrezzo
- Creation of additional staff accounts in Atrezzo
- Submission of PA requests
- Requests for revision of existing PAs
